Privacy Policy

Our legal customers take privacy seriously. So do we.

Security

The security of your information is important to us. After you have logged in, your communications are encrypted using secure socket layer technology (SSL), which should be reflected in your browser's address bar with the "https" prefix.

Information Collection & Use

We will not share your email address or any other information about your account to third parties without your consent.

Your Data and the Legal Process

We understand that you might consider some information placed on our site to be privileged, and we will undertake to protect the privacy and anonymity of that information. When permitted by law, we will notify you if information is demanded by a third party so that you can take appropriate action to protect any information that you deem sensitive.

With that understanding, we reserve the right to disclose your personally identifiable information as required by law and when we believe that disclosure is necessary to protect our own legal rights or to comply with a court order or similar legal process.

Registration Information

We use the email address that you provide us to communicate with you about your account. We also use this email address for confirmation of your identity when, for example, you ask to reset your account's password. If we do not have your current email address, you may be unable to make changes to your account.

Orders and Credit Card Payment Information

To process credit card payments for your account, we collect certain other personally identifiable information, including contact information (such as name, email, and billing address) and financial information (such as credit card number, expiration date, and CVV code). We do not store the full credit card number or the CVV number on our own systems; that information is immediately passed to our payment gateway provider. We do not use billing information for any other purpose.

Email Communications from Us

We may occasionally send you updates about DocketDB's services. We expect these emails to be infrequent.

Links to Other Sites

Some links on our site — such as links to related news stories or blog posts — point to websites operated by third parties, which we do not control. We do not always know and can make no promises about the privacy practices of other websites.

Analytics

We draw a distinction between paid users and other users of the website.

For Paid Subscribers

Once a paid user has logged into the site, we no longer use Google Analytics to track the movement of paid subscribers once they have signed into the site. We respect the privacy of our users and their legal clients, and our view is that the less information we retain about them, the more trusted a service provider we can become.

For all users, the site maintains normal server logs that can track errors and other anonymous information used to help improve the site. We delete these logs regularly.

For All Other Users

The areas of our site available to the general public and to unpaid members have a marketing function and, as such, may track analytics.

We use this information, which does not identify individual users, to analyze trends, to administer the site, and to gather demographic information about those interested enough in our site to use it but not to subscribe. These public areas may also be logged through tools provided by third parties, such as Google Analytics, which inserts a small amount of javascript into each page that tracks information about how people use our site.

Session Cookies

Our account login system, like most commercial websites, uses a "session cookie" to store your login authorization. Once you have entered your login name and password, a unique session cookie code is generated and sent back to your browser. By using session cookies, we have chosen the least intrusive means we know to be available to offer you a seamless experience using our site. These cookies are not accessed by any other website and, beyond their name, are not similar to "tracking cookies" that are common on advertising-supported sites.

Changes in this Privacy Statement

The current version of our privacy policy will always be available from a link on our home page. We may modify this privacy statement without notice. If we make changes to this policy that we deem to be material, we may notify subscribers on the site, by email, or by means of a notice on our home page.
